Shafaq News/ Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, said on Saturday that salaries will be distributed as soon as possible, adding: “We have reached an agreement with Baghdad to disburse the salaries of the Peshmerga and security forces, and we will send them lists of their names.”
Talabani said in a statement to a number of media outlets today, "We agreed with the federal government to send the names of members of the Peshmerga forces and security forces in the region to Baghdad tomorrow if they were not sent today."
He explained that "a joint committee was formed from the Kurdistan and Federal Financial Supervision Bureau to audit the lists of employee names."
A delegation from the Financial Supervision Bureau in the Kurdistan Region is scheduled to arrive in Baghdad to complete the process of auditing the lists of the region’s employees.
Regarding the May salary, Talabani said that part of the May salary has arrived and will be distributed soon.
The Ministry of Finance announced last Thursday that its accounting department had begun financing the salaries of Kurdistan Region’s civilian employees, in addition to the entitlements of the disabled in the directorates of the Social Protection Network, Welfare and Social Development, the salaries of civilian and military retirees, the entitlements of the affairs of martyrs and Anfal, contracts, and the entitlements of the region’s departments, as part of the allocations. Financial due for the month of May 2024.
The statement did not mention the salaries of the Peshmerga forces and other types of security services in the region.
On Thursday, the Kurdistan Regional Government confirmed that the salaries of the security forces and all employees will be paid before Eid al-Adha.
