[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Parliamentary Committee on Culture, Media, Tourism and Antiquities announced the completion of amending the Iraqi Media Network Law, while it expected to approve it next week.
The Vice-Chairwoman of the Committee, Samia Al-Ghalab, said in a press statement today, Wednesday, that "the law will address the dispute that occurred when the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network began operating without a vote by the House of Representatives, although the network is an independent body affiliated with Parliament."
She added that "the law separated the overlap between the powers of the Board of Trustees and the Chairman of the Iraqi Media Network," indicating that "the dismissal of the Chairman of the Network can only be done through a legitimate Board of Trustees voted on by the House of Representatives."
She explained that "the law, which has matured over 18 months, will be comprehensive and does not need any amendment during the next stage," saying that "the committee formed to select members of the Board of Trustees committed a legal error when it met with the candidates and imposed the personalities on the House of Representatives, while the network is an independent body affiliated with Parliament."
The Vice-Chair of the Committee considered that "amending the Iraqi Media Network Law will address all the gaps that occurred during the past period, and give greater powers to the Council in general and the Culture and Media Committee in particular to directly and professionally supervise the network." / End 5[/rtl]
