Member of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, Ali Al-Lami, confirmed on Tuesday, in a statement followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that there is a major shortage in the Iraqi Oil Tankers Company, indicating that the company's director stressed their need for 60 tankers.
Al-Lami said, "The Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee hosted the Director General of the Iraqi Oil Tankers Company in Basra Governorate, to identify the most important obstacles and problems related to the company's work."
He explained that "the company's director complains about the lack of tankers in this company, and requested support from the Ministry of Oil and the Parliamentary Oil Committee to obtain some approvals and the necessary financial allocation to purchase oil tankers."
Al-Lami pointed out that "the director of the tanker company confirmed during his hosting in the parliamentary oil committee, the company's need for 60 tankers to meet the need and achieve self-sufficiency," indicating that "the price of one tanker reaches 150 million dollars, and that Iraq currently owns only six tankers."
