The Ministry of Transport has launched a unified system to link taxis in Baghdad and the governorates, as part of its measures to develop the private transport sector.
The Director of the Ministry's Media Office, Maitham Al-Safi, explained to "Al-Sabah" that the Ministry of Transport, in coordination with the security forces, has closed more than 50 percent of the violating retail yards in Baghdad and the governorates to prevent drivers from illegal transportation and loading from outside the official garages, and violators have been fined. He pointed out that his ministry has begun implementing an integrated plan to develop and rehabilitate garages in Baghdad and the governorates and activate the work of electronic gates in them, revealing that the coming months will witness the opening of several international garages in Mosul, Dhi Qar and Sinjar, in addition to rehabilitating others in the governorates of Anbar, Muthanna and Najaf Al-Ashraf.
