{Economic: Al Furat News} An economic expert reassured about the salaries of employees, retirees, social care, and others among the groups receiving government salaries.
Abdul Rahman Al-Mashhadani told {Euphrates News} agency, "We previously stressed the issue of salaries and their provision by the government, as they have nothing to do with oil prices, although oil is the main resource for the government, but they are not related to salaries."
He explained that "the government deals with the issue of salaries through its various revenues, and there are many examples that occurred, such as in 2020, which witnessed a drop in oil prices to less than $18 per barrel, coinciding with the Corona pandemic, and there is no budget, but the payment of salaries continues, and what is affected is only allowances and promotions."
He explained that "the Ministry of Finance was able to collect the salaries of 4 million employees during the 24th and 25th of each month, so we confirm that salaries have absolutely nothing to do with oil prices."
Al-Mashhadani pointed out that "the government has an important source, which is oil revenues, as our oil revenues for the first seven months of this year are much higher, and we are within the budget plan, the country needs $7 billion to secure social protection salaries, employees, and part of other expenses."
He explained that "the drop in oil prices was only in this month and was not very significant, and as long as the government has the dollar, the Central Bank Law is responsible to the government to provide the required dinar, and the general budget has authorized the government to borrow from the Central Bank against treasury bonds and has authorized it to borrow from other government banks to borrow about 5 trillion dinars."
He noted that "there are only 5 months left of this year and there is no need for the anxiety that occurred regarding the issue of securing salaries," stressing that "among the items of the budget schedules is that the total salaries be 54 trillion dinars and the government actually spent 56 trillion, which means that a number of employees have taken long vacations, and the issue of salaries has a special paragraph in the budget and is different from the rest of the paragraphs and investment expenditures and service and commodity requirements."
