    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Political researcher Mujasha' Al-Tamimi confirmed, today, Wednesday (September 11, 2024), that there was great neglect by the Iranian press of the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Iraq .
Al-Tamimi told Baghdad Today, "The majority of the Iranian press today neglected the Iranian president's visit to Iraq, which indicates the marginality of Iranian newspapers or reasons related to Iranian internal affairs and the priorities of their internal or external files. However, if the goal of the Iranian president's visit to Pezeshkian is achieved, perhaps those priorities will change for Iranian newspapers."
He added, "Especially if the main goal is achieved, which is to meet the supreme authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, in Najaf," adding, "But the most important thing here is the hypothetical question, what would be the position of the Iranian press if President Pezeshkian visited Turkey, Saudi Arabia, or Egypt, for example?" He stressed that "the priority for the Iranian press will be for those visits, regardless of the results."
The political researcher concluded by saying, "This is the first foreign visit of the Iranian president, but there is no Iranian interest in it, and this confirms that the visit is protocol and will not bring anything new."
Pezeshkian arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday morning on his first visit abroad since his election last July, during which he seeks to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries .
Pezeshkian is visiting Baghdad at the head of a high-level delegation of political and economic officials, in response to an invitation from Al-Sudani.
The Iranian president's visit will last for 3 days, according to what was confirmed by the Iranian presidency website, which indicated that Pezeshkian will hold, in addition to official meetings, meetings with Iranians in Iraq and with businessmen, and will visit Najaf, Karbala and Basra.
