Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the Tax Reform Committee on Tuesday to write a draft law for the sales tax, while the Tax Reform Committee confirmed that many changes had occurred that affected general managers.
The head of the committee, advisor to the Prime Minister Abdul Hussein al-Anbaki, said according to the official agency that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the writing of a draft law for the sales tax, as we will cooperate with international organizations and international experts to write the draft very soon," indicating that "the Tax Reform Committee investigated matters in the field of institutional building by changing many obstructive department managers."
He added, "We are trying to create transparency, and we have an invitation to large companies in the field of automation to move to a comprehensive and automated tax system," noting that "we have included new tax brackets and are moving towards improving the tax performance environment in terms of departments."
He stressed that "work is ongoing on many legislations, and we are continuing to work on them," explaining that "the process is not easy, but rather includes great obstruction by those obstructing reform in general."
