The Council of Ministers approved, on Tuesday, the issuance
of the second amendment to the Investment Law. The media office of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stated in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "within the framework of regulating investment, the Council of Ministers approved during today's session the issuance of the second amendment to the Investment Law No. (2) of 2009, which was audited by the State Council, based on the provisions of the Constitution and the Investment Law (13 of 2006), taking into account the legal observations and what was stated in the minutes of the meeting of the Committee for Studying the Amendment of the Investment Law (2 of 2009)."
He added, "Within the transportation sector, and with regard to the (Basra-Shalamcheh) railway line project, the Council of Ministers approved what was stated in the minutes of the technical committee formed in the General Company for Iraqi Railways, tasked with negotiating with the Spanish company (Imathia), to implement the (Basra-Shalamcheh) railway line; and signing the contract, taking into account the observations of the legal department, and extending the negotiation period (60) days."
