The Iraqi Ministry of Trade reassured citizens, today, Tuesday, of the availability of food security in the country, indicating its intention to open “hypermarket” markets in Baghdad.[/size]
[size=45]The official spokesman for the ministry, Mohammed Hanoun, said, “For the first time, the ministry has provided food security for the Iraqi citizen by providing a strategic stock of food supplies in preparation for confronting any potential security crisis.”[/size]
[size=45]He added, "The ministry has a sufficient strategic stock of wheat amounting to 6.3 million tons, while the rest of the six food basket items are very widely available."[/size]
[size=45]Hanoun pointed out that “marketing centers have been established in Baghdad and will be opened in the coming days. They contain hypermarkets that include all the food items that citizens need, especially durable goods, and are sold at cost price, which is less than 20% of the local market.”[/size]
[size=45]He explained that "the six marketing centers will open in Baghdad in the coming days, while all governorates are preparing to establish other markets with the same standards, which will allow for the provision of food and contribute to the stability of food prices in local markets."[/size]
[size=45]A hypermarket is a large store that combines the features of a supermarket (food products) and a retail store (non-food goods such as electronics and clothing), allowing shoppers to buy their various needs in one place, and is characterized by offering a wide variety of goods in a large space.[/size]
