Government spokesman: We are continuing our efforts to stop the aggression and we reject the logic of accusing our brothers of treason

Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi reiterated his emphasis on the continuation of Iraqi diplomatic efforts to pressure the active parties in the international community to stop the Zionist killing machine against our people in Gaza and Lebanon. While he stressed that the government is the only one expressing official positions, he announced his rejection of the accusations of treason against the brothers who are working to stop the suffering of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
Al-Awadi said in a statement received by Al-Sabah: “The Iraqi government affirms its continued support for all international and regional efforts aimed at stopping the Zionist aggression against our steadfast people in Gaza and Lebanon, and employing all its international and regional presence, and ties with brothers and friends, for that goal, in addition to providing relief and support for the steadfastness of the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples.”
He explained that, "at the same time, the government stresses its rejection of the accusations of treason directed at the brothers and the insults to them, especially as they seek in the same way to protect the Palestinian people and affirm their right, as well as the right of the Lebanese people to sovereignty over their land and protect their borders, far from the brutality and recklessness of the enemy."
The government spokesman stressed that "the official positions of Iraq are expressed exclusively by the government, through its policies and steps based on the constitution and the democratic system, and its responsibility to formulate general policies and appreciate the supreme interest of the Iraqi people."
Parliamentary vision
Meanwhile, within the parliamentary positions, Member of Parliament, Amanj Al-Harki, said: “Iraq stands by the Lebanese people and supports them morally and materially.”
Al-Harki explained in an interview with Al-Sabah that “the situation in Lebanon is really difficult, and support should be intensified,” noting that Iraq is adopting a diplomatic position that aims to spare the region any armed conflicts.
"Diplomacy is the best solution at the moment. We are working to resolve matters through dialogue and negotiation to spare the region from slipping into a war that could affect everyone," he said.
Regarding the support provided by Iraq, Al-Harki stressed that “the aid focuses on basic humanitarian needs, such as food and medicine, which help the Lebanese people overcome the current crises.” He also pointed out that “Iraq is committed to continuing its support within the framework of this aid,” and stressed that “Iraq is keen on the stability of the region in general.”

In addition, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society expressed its complete readiness to provide relief to the Lebanese brothers in all parts of Iraq, while confirming the presence of 8,000 Lebanese so far.
The association’s president, Dr. Yassin Al-Maamouri, told Al-Sabah: “National efforts in all directions have been mobilized to contain the humanitarian crises resulting from the current events, especially during the past 10 days due to the bombing of southern Lebanon, and the resulting internal displacement, the largest part of which has gone abroad and headed to a number of countries, including Iraq.”
He added, "There is a clear national effort within the country to receive Lebanese refugees, settle them in decent places, and provide them with all kinds of services, starting from their entry into the borders until they arrive in those new places."
He continued, "The association has prepared a complete detachment starting from the entry of the Lebanese brothers into Iraqi territory, and there is a sharing of roles with some parties, in addition to detachments inside Syria to provide services to them and coordinate relief efforts, and extend transportation lines in other provinces and cities, where there is special care for them wherever they reside."
Al-Maamouri stressed that “the association’s teams visit all displaced Lebanese, assess their needs, and provide them with assistance through integrated and continuous efforts.” He explained “the association’s readiness and permanent preparedness to respond fully to the relief of our Lebanese brothers wherever they are.” He pointed out that “there are 8,000 Lebanese so far, but their numbers are constantly changing in the event that the bombing of their areas continues.”
