    Baghdad Today - Kurdistan
The Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced, today, Tuesday (October 8, 2024), a deficit of about 305 billion dinars in salaries for last September.
The ministry said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "There is a deficit of about 305 billion dinars to distribute salaries for the month of September," indicating that "after the visit of the technical delegation of the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Regional Government to Baghdad in the past two weeks and its meetings with the relevant offices in the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, most of the technical problems that were held back were resolved."
Regarding the amount of money spent on salaries, the ministry explained in its statement that "on Monday, October 7, 2024, an amount of 329 billion and 392 million dinars was deposited as security forces' salary dues for the month of September into the bank account of the Ministry of Finance and Economy at the Central Bank branch in Erbil, Iraq," noting that "the remaining funding available to the Ministry of Finance after filling the deficit in August salaries is 361 billion dinars."
She continued: "The total funds available to the Ministry of Finance for September salaries amount to 690 billion and 392 million dinars, or about 305 billion dinars deficit for distributing September salaries," noting that "based on the promises and understandings presented by the Ministry of Finance to the technical delegation of the Ministry of Finance and Economy in the Kurdistan Region, all deductions that were cut from the salaries of previous months have been resolved these days."
She pointed out that "since last July, after the salaries of the Kurdistan Regional Government retirees became equal to the salaries of Iraqis, the monthly funding for retirees increased to about 45 billion dinars, but no funding has been allocated so far by the Iraqi government," stressing that "the book transferring funds from consumer expenditures to social welfare and pensions of the Kurdistan Region has been in the Iraqi Ministry of Finance for more than a month to ensure the financial allocation to equalize the salaries of retirees."
The ministry expected in its statement that "the federal government will pay the supplementary amount for September salaries as soon as possible to begin distributing September salaries directly."
