    Information / Baghdad..
MP Mohammed Al-Ziyadi confirmed today, Wednesday, that the clarification issued by the Federal Court regarding the phrase “sovereignty” mentioned in the Iraqi constitution is an obligation for all federal and regional authorities to end foreign presence in all its forms.
Al-Ziyadi told Al-Maalouma Agency, "The main tasks of the constitution are to focus on the unity of all official and semi-official institutions to impose full sovereignty over the country."
He added, "The Federal Court's clarification of the phrase of the constitution, which it issued yesterday, Tuesday, imposed on all authorities to adhere to the provisions of the constitution by preserving the unity of Iraq and not to do anything that would undermine its sovereignty."
He considered that "the foreign military presence in Iraq is a blatant violation of sovereignty, and therefore the federal government, the region and the governorates are obligated to expedite the end of any military presence on their lands, airspace and waters."
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Federal Supreme Court issued a decision that included an interpretation of the phrase "fully sovereign" contained in Article (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005. The clarification stated that "the phrase stated that the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq guarantees the unity of Iraq, and since that unity requires that Iraq have full sovereignty over all its lands, airspace, and territorial waters, this also requires obligating all federal authorities, regional authorities, decentralized governorates, and local administrations to abide by the provisions of the Constitution to preserve the unity of Iraq and not to do anything that would undermine its sovereignty."
