The Prime Minister's Advisor for Yazidi Affairs, Khalaf Sinjari, announced today, Monday, the launch of a new batch of compensation worth 99 billion dinars to Sinjar District and Nineveh Governorate, noting that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani gave special priority to the displaced people residing in the camps of the Kurdistan Region from Sinjar District and the rest of the regions to encourage them to return to their homes.
Sinjari said in a statement to the official agency: "Based on the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and his continuous support for Sinjar and Nineveh and the compensation file in general, and in implementation of the Cabinet's decision to give priority to Sinjar District in the compensation file, the Ministry of Finance has launched compensation to Sinjar District and Nineveh Governorate in the amount of 99 billion dinars."
He added, "The Ministry of Finance is working to complete the remaining transactions based on the Prime Minister's directives to give priority to Sinjar in the financial allocations for 2025."
Sinjari explained that "this payment was issued based on a letter from the Prime Minister's Office, which urgently directed the Ministry of Finance to release new financial allocations, with the aim of improving the conditions of the residents of Sinjar areas and giving citizens their dues for the destruction of homes and furniture they suffered as a result of terrorist operations."
Sinjari stressed that "this is not the first time that measures have been taken in favor of the people of Sinjar," explaining that "the Council of Ministers has taken many decisions to support the affected areas," expressing his thanks to the Ministry of Finance, the Compensation Committee, Nineveh Governorate, the Committee for Following Up on Cabinet Decisions in the President's Office, and everyone who contributed to completing this important file.
He added, "We are continuing to work continuously based on the Prime Minister's directives to follow up on this important file, which is directly related to the lives of citizens and their return to their areas."
He pointed out that "the Cabinet's decision gave special priority to the displaced people residing in the camps of the Kurdistan Region from Sinjar District and the rest of the regions, which is additional support for them, with the aim of encouraging them to return, rehabilitate their homes, and pay their compensation dues," stressing that "this support comes after suffering that lasted ten years."
He pointed out that "last September witnessed the laying of the foundation stone for Sinjar General Hospital, and the foundation stone for Al-Sanuni Hospital will soon be laid," indicating that "Al-Sudani directed the formation of a committee in coordination with the regional government and the relevant ministries in the center to develop a humanitarian plan and prepare the conditions for the return of the displaced."
