Washington announces Baghdad's approval to return Iraqis who have been issued deportation orders

WASHINGTON, June 13 (UPI) - The US Immigration and Customs Administration (ICA) has announced that the Iraqi government has agreed to return a number of Iraqis who have been ordered to deport because of crimes.
"As a result of recent negotiations between the United States and Iraq, the Iraqi government has recently agreed to accept a number of Iraqis who have been issued deportation orders for crimes," administration spokesman Gillian Christensen told Reuters.
"The Immigration Department has recently arrested a number of persons criminally convicted of serious crimes," he said, "following each of them in full and fair immigration procedures, after which a federal judge specializing in immigration cases found that they were not eligible for any exemption under the law American and ordered their deportation. "
Reports have pointed to the arrest of US authorities in the city of Detroit for dozens of Iraqi residents of the Chaldean community, who have legal problems or precedents, in preparation for deportation to Iraq.
Activists at social networking sites said US immigration and customs officers arrested more than 40 Iraqis and placed them on buses heading to immigration centers for deportation to Iraq.
A legal expert said that the decision to deport was applied to people who do not have US citizenship, have criminal records in the US courts or have been revoked and have not been renewed.
Many Iraqis have expressed dissatisfaction with these measures, asserting that some of the deportees have been living in the United States for more than 10 years with their families. The Chaldeans, who are Christian sects, were arrested on Sunday as the authorities used them in the morning.
Others accused the US administration, led by Donald Trump, of pursuing racist policies against foreigners.
Martin Mana, an Iraqi-American Chaldean, told the Detroit Free Press that sending them "is like the death penalty" as religious minorities are suffering in Iraq as the war against the Daash organization continues.
Some activists posted a video showing the deportation of a group of men amid the weeping of their parents and begging them to be released. Finished
