JERUSALEM - The Tel Aviv government is called upon to launch an alliance and partnership with Syria's Kurds, an Israeli expert center said on Tuesday.
According to the "Begin Sadat Center for Strategic Studies" of the University of "Barilan", the chances of launching an alliance with the Sunni Arab forces in Syria "turn to zero, because they are extremist trends, and can not be described any of them moderate," according to his description.
While he saw other groups he described as "doctrinal" aligned with the Assad regime, backed by Iran.
The study, which was published by the Center on its website on Tuesday, stressed that closer alliance with the Kurds in Syria will improve Israel's ability to confront Iran and Turkey, noting that it is in Israel's interest that the Kurds work to counter Turkish influence in northern Syria and try to export trouble to Ankara, That this behavior is consistent with Israel's strategic interests.
The study pointed out that strengthening the status of the Kurdish enclave in northeastern Syria could contribute to reducing the status of Turkey to the United States and NATO, noting that the Israeli leadership can ask the US administration to use its influence among the Syrian Kurds in order to allow the launch of an air base, Inglek "Turkish, used by the US Air Force, and air forces of the NATO countries in the military operations carried out in the region.
The study found that the chances for the launch of this base are reinforced by the fact that Syrian Kurdish leaders always insist that US forces remain in their areas of influence in order to improve their ability to counter regional transformations.
The study pointed out that an active Kurdish presence in Syria "may contribute to the exclusion of Shiite forces, especially Hezbollah, from the border with Israel," indicating that cooperation with the Kurds could reduce Iran's ability to implement its plan to find a land corridor connecting the "Strait of Hormuz" Through the Mediterranean Sea through Baghdad, Damascus and Beirut.
The study stressed that the launch of an alliance with the Kurds of Syria requires first to change Israel's approach of non-interference in the internal reality in Syria as long as it does not directly affect its national security, and urged the break with this strategy by strengthening the alliance with the Kurds of Syria.
According to the study, Israel can understand with the leadership of the Kurdish enclave to inaugurate an oil pipeline linking Israel to the Kurdish influence area, passing through Jordan, noting that diversification of energy sources, especially oil, is of strategic importance to Tel Aviv.
