[ltr]Minister of Water Resources Hassan al-Janabi said Thursday that the date for the filling of the Turkish Aliso dam by Turkish water is imminent, calling on Iraqis to preserve every drop of water.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The atmosphere of our meetings in Ankara was very positive with President Erdogan, with the Turkish prime minister and with the Minister of Forests and Water Affairs," Janabi said in a publication on Facebook.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The Turkish president has officially informed us that the new Elissu dam on the Tigris River will start in the spring, but it is expected," he said. "Abadi has put the water in a serious and insistent way as a priority."[/ltr]
[ltr]Al-Janabi said that "the news covered an important part of our talks with the Turkish side, even the Turkish president pledged not to harm Iraq as well as the minister concerned." We agreed on additional meetings to translate the Turkish pledge into action. "I am concerned and call on citizens to keep every drop Water".[/ltr]
[ltr]The minister met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Ben Ali Yildirim and a group of Turkish ministers to discuss joint issues between the two countries.[/ltr]
