    Baghdad - Journal News
The US Embassy in Iraq announced that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will launch the "Takamol" project in Basra, to be a regional center to support the governments of the southern provinces.
"US Consul General Timmy Davis and USAID Deputy Director William Patterson met with Basra Governor As'ad al-Eidani, the head of the provincial council, Waleed Kitan and members of the council," the embassy said in a statement.
She added that "the purpose of the meeting was to introduce the new project in Arabic in the name of (integration)."
"The Takamul project will support Iraqi government reforms to strengthen public financial management and improve the delivery of basic public services. For example, the assistance provided by the Takamul Progress Project, which supported the Wasit Governorate government, increased the provision of garbage collection services to 16 municipalities throughout Wasit. "
"The Takamul Project Office in Basra will be a regional center to support provincial governments throughout southern Iraq," she said.
"Takamol continues to support the government of Iraq to enhance the provision of public services to all Iraqis. The Takamul project will start its activities in the region through training in public finance and service delivery later this month."
