KUWAIT: Kuwait's reconstruction conference on Iraq will focus on grants and investments by the private sector, while at the same time ruling out the participation of US companies in the reconstruction process, economic expert Majid al-Suri said Tuesday.
"The Kuwait conference for the reconstruction of Iraq will reveal the good faith of the world towards us," Al-Soury said in a statement to Al-Maaloumah. "This is achieved after the efforts exerted by the people and the security forces of all kinds in the war against a da'eef."
"The Kuwait conference will support Iraq in rebuilding the devastated cities, but it will not be free of conditions," he said. "Can Iraq bring investment and grants under the political crisis, financial mismanagement, corruption and bureaucracy?"
He explained that "the conference will focus on grants and investments by the private sector, where there will be the presence of many investment companies," denying that "the loading of Iraq more debt during the conference."
He said that "Iraq received an investment loan from England amounted to more than 12 billion dollars, in addition to developmental loans obtained from the World Bank and Japan," stressing that "US companies are not ready to enter and invest in Iraq, unless the conditions necessary to attract investment To the country.
