[ltr]At least 13 people, including three children, were killed when a military helicopter carrying senior officials went down to inspect the ruins of an earthquake in a small town in the southern state of Wahaka, authorities said.[/ltr]
[ltr]Officials said the helicopter, which was carrying the interior minister and the state governor, fell on two small transport vehicles during an attempted landing after the inspection tour on Friday.[/ltr]
[ltr]A statement issued by the State Attorney's Office of the state of Ohaka state that senior officials survived but 12 people were killed instantly and another died in hospital. Fifteen people were injured in the accident.[/ltr]
[ltr]The 7.2-magnitude earthquake cut off about one million homes and companies in Mexico City and the south and destroyed 50 houses in Waahaca.[/ltr]
[ltr]The state is still recovering with Mexico City from earthquakes in September that led to extensive destruction and killed at least 471 people.[/ltr]
