Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri called on the international community to support the Lebanese armed forces in order to enable them to carry out their duty to maintain security and stability.
In his presence at the Rome 2 conference organized by the International Support Group for Lebanon, Hariri said that Lebanon intends to strengthen its military presence on the southern border. The international community is seeking to strengthen the capabilities of the Lebanese army and the internal security forces as a means of preventing the Hezbollah group. In turning the Syrian war in favor of President Bashar al-Assad, from expanding its influence inside Lebanon.
"We will send more Lebanese army soldiers to the south and confirm our intention to deploy a model regiment," he said. Hariri met on the sidelines of the conference with British Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Alistair Baird and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
