    Planning announces a plan to provide 250 liters of water per day per person


    The Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday that the National Development Plan for the five years 2018-2022 aims to provide people with drinking water according to international standards. The plan aims to provide at least 250 liters per person per day in Baghdad and provincial centers. 
    "The National Development Plan for the five years 2018-2022 aims at satisfying the need for drinking water according to international standards and increasing the contribution of the agricultural sector in the gross domestic product to the non-oil activities," ministry spokesman Abdel-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement received by the Journal News. Adding that "the plan aims to raise the contribution of the agricultural sector to (5.2%) in 2022 after it was (4.5)."
    He added that "the target growth rate of the agricultural sector at the end of the life of the plan is (8.4%), in order to achieve sustainable food security for the Iraqi citizen," adding that "the plan has developed a vision to secure the annual demand for water and sustainable uses in the agricultural, industrial and municipal, Achieves a water balance while seeking to reduce annual water demand by 500 million cubic meters per year to provide sustainable water resources. "  
    Al-Hindawi pointed out that "the plan set goals to ensure the supply of drinking water according to international standards and access to provide a share of per capita consumption of clean water to suit the population growth and at least 250 liters per person per day in Baghdad and provincial centers and at least 200 liters per day Districts and districts, "noting that" the provision of drinking water in these quantities and specifications required would contribute to reduce the proportion of rumors by at least 10% ؜ ".
    "The plan also aims to increase the proportion of sewage network workers to 97% in Baghdad and 73% in governorates, and provide the required standards for the introduction of treated water to the river in accordance with standard specifications, in order to reduce the percentage of pollution in water."
    The country faces a water crisis marked by drought and the construction of dams on the tracks and sources of the Tigris and Euphrates, the most harmful to Iraq dam Aliso in Turkey, which contributed to reduce the share of Iraq in the waters of the Tigris to a large extent.
