Iraq announces resumption of river transport with Iran

The Ministry of Transport announced on Saturday the resumption of river transport with Iran after a three-year suspension.
The ministry said in a statement received by Al-Iktissad News, a copy of it, that "the activity of the river line was resumed between Al-Ashar Quay on the banks of the Shatt al-Arab in Basra and the Iranian port of Khorramshahr after a three-year suspension."
She added: "where the boats of the General Company for Maritime Transport, one of the formations of the Iraqi Ministry of Transport, carrying 46 passengers to the port of Khorramshahr in southwestern Iran."
For his part, the Minister of Transport Kazem Venjan Alamami, "the ministry's endeavor to activate and spread river transport inside and outside Iraq for the importance of this type of transport."
For his part, Director General of the General Company for Maritime Transport in the Ministry, Abdul Karim Al-Jabri, that "the company owns modern boats dedicated to the success of all river trips (near and far)."
Al-Jabri pointed out that "the resumption of the river line between Iraq and Iran will reduce the momentum in the port of Shalamjah border between the two countries, and will provide tourist character for travelers."

Transport announces the resumption of the river line traffic with Iran after a three-year hiatus

Transport Minister Kazem Vajan al-Hamami announced on Saturday the resumption of the river line between Al-Ashar Quay on the banks of the Shatt al-Arab in Basra and the Iranian port of Khorramshahr after a three-year suspension.

"The boats of the General Company for Maritime Transport, one of the formations of the Iraqi Ministry of Transport, arrived at the port of Khorramshahr in southwestern Iran with 46 passengers on board," Hamami said in a statement read by Al-Iktissad News.

He added that "the ministry is seeking to activate and spread the river transport inside and outside Iraq for the importance of this type of transport."

For his part, Director of the General Company for Maritime Transport Abdulkarim Al-Jabri said that "the company owns modern boats dedicated to the success of all river trips (near and far)."

He pointed out that "the resumption of the river line between Iraq and Iran will reduce the momentum in the port of Shalamjah border between the two countries and will provide a tourist character for travelers.
