The leader of the Fatah alliance Abdul Rahim Darraji on Thursday criticized the amnesty law after news of the former minister of commerce, who is accused of corruption, was covered by the law.
"The amnesty law was enacted for the purpose of criminals, whose hands were stained with the blood of Iraqis and the protection of thieves who looted public money," Darraji told Ashqaf News.
He added that "the amnesty law is an agreement of the political class to protect themselves and protect their sorcerers and murderers," adding that "the best proof of this is the inclusion of Abdul-Falah al-Sudani, the decision of amnesty, which stole more than two billion dollars, "He said.
A document published by Shafak News on Wednesday showed former trade minister Abdulhalah al-Sudani being covered by amnesty for the cases he was accused of.
Al-Sudani, who also holds British citizenship, belongs to the "Advocacy and Reform" party, which he then distanced from him and denied links to the party.
He was arrested by the Lebanese authorities at Beirut International Airport on the background of an arrest warrant issued by Interpol. He was handed over to Iraq.
Abd al-Falah al-Sudani took office in June 2006 with the formation of a new government headed by Nuri al-Maliki and appeared before the parliament in May 2009 after being accused by the Parliamentary Integrity Commission of involvement in administrative corruption cases.
