BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The Revolutionary Guard has economic interests in Iraq but the Iraqi government does not deal directly with it, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said in response to remarks made by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo yesterday, in which he disclosed the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's control of 20 percent of the Iraqi economy.
But Abdul-Mahdi stressed that his government does not have information or figures on the size of investments and economic interests of the Revolutionary Guard in Iraq, pointing out that in the end Iraq has good relations and dealings with Iran and not the Revolutionary Guards.
US statements coincide about 24 hours after the decision to consider the Iranian Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization to take effect.
