    The Economy News - Baghdad
The Minister of Electricity, Louay al-Khatib, commented on Monday on what was circulated by some media about Baghdad's inability to increase production and the construction of new power stations.
Al-Khatib said, through his blog posting it on his official account on "Twitter", which was viewed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "Iraq needs 4 years within a full-fledged government to be able to increase electricity production and dispense with importing electricity from Iran."
The minister added, "The problem is not exclusively in production; rather, it is in the requirements for the reconstruction of the national network (transportation and distribution), especially after the ISIS war, which destroyed 25% of the system."
Al-Khatib pointed out, "The need to develop gas fields and facilities to ensure a promising fuel plan, in addition to reforming the tariff to be rewarding."
