    Baghdad / National News Center
The Deputy Head of the European Union Mission in Iraq, John Bernard Polvan, confirmed, Saturday, that the European Union is one of the main donors in the humanitarian response and development aid in Iraq.
Polvan said in a special statement to the "National News Center", "The European Union is one of the main donors in the humanitarian response and development aid in Iraq, as it has invested more than 1 billion euros in Iraq since 2003."
“Development support in Iraq amounted to 617.35 million euros in 2020, with a total of 69 projects in different parts of Iraq, while our current support package to address the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic in Iraq amounted to 159 million euros to meet both humanitarian needs and increase accessibility,” Polvan added. Citizens receive jobs and social protection.
He continued, "The interests of the European Union in Iraq is to maintain security and rebuild the social contract between citizens and institutions."
