On Saturday, Representative Alia Nassif called on the government to protect the citizen from the effects of raising the price of the dollar, indicating that this came after the price of foodstuffs doubled.

Nassif said in a statement that "all foodstuffs have doubled their prices, from oil to paste, due to the increase in the price of the dollar and also the approaching month of Ramadan, which witnesses a great turnout of people to buy food."

Nassif added, "The citizen has rights over his country, so where are the rights of the Iraqi citizen over his state, which reduced the price of the dinar?" Is it not their duty to mitigate the negative effects of this measure instead of leaving the people in the wind? How will low-income families face the exorbitant price tag that will take us back to the time of the economic blockade?

And Nassif warned of "the government's disavowal of its responsibilities, the effects of which will be dire in the coming days, so beware of the anger of the people that you left between the hammer of the dollar and the anvil of high prices."

Nassif called on the government to "protect citizens from the negative effects of raising the price of the dollar."
