    Independent High Electoral Commission revealed, on Thursday, that the number of candidates is not final until it is approved by the Board of Commissioners, confirming that these names are still subject to scrutiny by the Commission and have not been sent to the institutions related to the candidate’s eligibility.
    The official spokeswoman for the Commission, Jumana Al-Ghalai, said, according to the official newspaper, that "after the end of the period for receiving candidate lists and registering political alliances on May 1 this year, the UNHCR offices in the governorates sent the names of all candidates to the Candidate Affairs Division in the National Office for the purpose of checking all their priorities.
    She added that "the audit includes verifying the supporters of these candidates, who number 500 support for the candidacy for each candidate, checking the names of the candidates, their priorities and what is required of them, and has not yet been sent to the institutions related to the candidate's eligibility."
    Al-Ghalai indicated that "the names will be sent to those bodies, including the National Accountability and Justice Commission, the Integrity Commission, the Ministries of Education and Criminal Evidence in the Ministry of Interior after the verification process and the classification of names, provided that they return from those authorities to the Commission within 15 days after directing the Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi Which formed an operating room to speed up this process. "
    The official spokeswoman for the Commission warned that "the number of candidates amounting to 3,500 candidates is not final, and may change after receiving the answer from the relevant institutions," stressing that "the numbers are final with the approval of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission."
