    {Local: Al Furat News} The Directorate of Investigation of the Federal Integrity Commission in Basra Governorate announced, on Saturday, the arrest of the director of Umm Qasr Al Shamali port and the head of the Conformity Committee for auditing customs transactions and exemption between the border crossings and the customs there on charges of bribery.
    And the Commission's investigation department stated, in a statement that {Euphrates News} received a copy of it, that its staff "in Basra Governorate, and after follow-up and investigation, managed to arrest the director of Umm Qasr Al-Shamali outlet, who holds the rank of brigadier general, on charges of receiving a bribe, based on the provisions of the resolution (160 of the year). 1983).
    The department revealed "details of the seizure process, which was carried out by the staff of the Commission's Investigation Directorate in Basra Governorate," explaining that "investigations and follow-up of the directorate's staff resulted in the arrest of the port director on charges of receiving sums of money in exchange for facilitating the passage of trucks through the port in violation of the controls. And the inspection led to the seizure of the bribe amount inside his office room, in addition to other amounts whose source has not been determined.”
    And she continued, "The directorate's staff was also able to seize the head of the compliance committee for checking customs transactions and exemption between border crossings and customs, who also holds the rank of brigadier general, as the process of tracking the accused led to the seizure of sums of money in his office room hidden in the trash, and when asked about the source of those funds. He denied knowing its source.
    The circuit indicated that “the process of arresting the accused (the director of the port and the head of the committee) was according to two judicial arrest warrants,” noting “the organization of a fundamental arrest report detailing the process, supported by the exhibits that were seized in the process, and presenting it, with the accused, to the competent investigative judge, who decided to arrest them in custody.” Investigation".
    On the eighth of this June, the Federal Integrity Commission held the first meeting dedicated to improving the work of the ports, with the participation of the Office of Financial Supervision, the Border Ports Authority, the governors of the governorates that host the border crossings, and the General Authority of Customs.
