, the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission confirmed, today, Sunday, not to extend another period for registration of alliances and candidates, while noting that there is no return for those who withdrew.
The commission stated, in a statement received by Mawazine News, a copy of it, that "within the preparations of the Electoral Commission for the polling phase to hold the Iraqi parliament elections scheduled to take place on the tenth of next October, the final numbers of polling stations and stations affiliated with the electoral registration centers have been determined. Updating the biometric voter register that lapsed on 4/15/2021 and knowing the final numbers of voters. The final deployment process was approved by the Board of Commissioners by (8273) polling stations, comprising a total of (55041) polling stations, as each station receives (450) voters as a maximum. Because the deployment process for polling stations is determined based on the data of the ration card and the voter's place of residence.
The statement added: "The Electoral Commission confirms, in a message of reassurance to the Iraqi street, including the voters, as well as those interested in electoral affairs and the international community, that it is very keen on the integrity of the electoral process by taking the necessary means for its success; it is in the process of studying the procedures to ensure the consolidation of the electoral process."
He continued, "The Commission continues to receive the answers received from the bodies that verify the eligibility of the candidate and ensure that he is not affiliated with the armed forces and security services through a specialized committee that studies the answers and prepares its report for the Board of Commissioners to take the necessary decision in this regard, in addition to continuing to receive withdrawal requests during The period that started from 13 to 20/6/2021, and the Board of Commissioners firmly confirms that registration is closed permanently, and there is no renewal for the candidacy period that ended on May 1, 2021, and that the process of withdrawal of candidates is an absolute withdrawal, and the withdrawing candidate is not allowed to participate again ".
The statement pointed out: "Because the work of the Electoral Commission is defined by tight timings that organize the stages of the electoral process, and it cannot be deviated from, as it is committed to conducting the election of the Iraqi Parliament on its scheduled date, the Commission works based on the provisions of the certification system for candidate lists, which states: "It is not entitled to The party has the right to change its candidates and submit the names of new candidates who had not been nominated before the end of the nomination period, or replace the previous candidates with other candidates, unless the commission excluded some of its candidates, and requested that they be replaced by others within a period specified by the commission. It is considered valid, and it is not permissible to replace the deceased candidates with other candidates, due to the expiration of the nomination period.
He pointed out, "Within the directives of the Board of Commissioners and the Electoral Administration, the general directors continue to make field visits to the electoral offices, warehouses and registration centers affiliated with them, to ensure their technical and administrative readiness in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections, and to hold joint meetings with members of the Security Committee and the management of the electoral governorate offices and to discuss the numbers of protection available and preventive safety.
He noted that "in order to sustain communication, follow-up and evaluate the performance of the parties operating on the national scene, the specialized teams from the Department of Parties and Political Organizations continue their field visits to party headquarters to follow up on the implementation of procedures for the functioning of the headquarters of political parties that have an official establishment license, which includes checking seals. And documents, records and documents certified by the notary public as required by the instructions for implementing the Law of Parties.
