Yesterday, Monday, the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, arrived in New York to participate in the work of the United Nations General Assembly at its seventy-sixth session.
A statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic confirmed that during this participation, Saleh will deliver Iraq's speech at the meeting of the General Assembly, and it is expected that the President of the Republic will meet, during his participation in New York, a number of leaders and leaders of countries present at this session.
On September 23 of last year, the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, delivered Iraq’s speech from Baghdad via “video conference” at the work of the United Nations General Assembly at its seventy-fifth session, which took place via satellite due to the conditions of the Corona pandemic.
In his speech, Salih stressed that the national project in Iraq is based on the consolidation of a capable state capable of imposing the law, refusing to make the country an arena for conflicts and settling the accounts of others, pointing out that an independent, sovereign Iraq will be a meeting point for the common interests of the peoples and countries of the region, and a starting point for a regional system. Based on economic cooperation and joint security in the face of terrorism, he reiterated his call, which he made in the work of the United Nations General Assembly at its last session, to form an international coalition to fight corruption and recover looted funds, similar to the international coalition against terrorism, and to help Iraq in combating corruption and prosecuting the corrupt.
