On Saturday, the Electoral Commission suggested that a change in the results would occur after canceling the results of electoral stations by decisions of the judiciary.
Imad Jamil, a member of the media team of the commission, said in a press statement, followed by NRT Arabia today, (November 20, 2021), that "the recent decisions of the judiciary canceled the results of electoral stations for legal reasons, and the commission implemented those decisions and had previously investigated its files."
Jamil added, "The cancellation was made by decisions of the judiciary, not the commission, and it is likely that it will change the results, and we are waiting for the appeals to be completed, and decisions may be issued to re-sort other stations."
He continued, "The commission is now waiting for the final appeal to the judiciary to be resolved, after which the commission will announce the names of the winners."
With regard to the body authorized to announce the results, Jamil explained that "the judiciary is not the one who announces the final results, but rather the commission, and then it is ratified by the Federal Court."
And he indicated, "If the judicial body completes the appeals and no decision has been issued yet and stations are sorted, the election results will be announced soon."
The Commission had announced earlier that the judiciary had accepted seven appeals, which resulted in decisions to cancel electoral votes in a number of stations.
