    {Economic: Al Furat News} Asiacell, the leading company in the field of mobile communications and digital services in Iraq, announced that it has won the prestigious "DCD" award for data center development, due to the great efforts made by Asiacell in rebuilding the communications infrastructure in Iraq.
    Thus, the Iraqi Telecom Company has now become one of the final candidates among the international telecom companies to win the Data Center Development Award for the year 2021.
    The Asiacell data centers project started in January of the year 2020, and in a short period of time, Asiacell was able to establish, not just one data center, but thirteen data centers throughout Iraq, as four of them are data centers of the third category. Tier III" according to the Uptime International Institute; Which is considered one of the highest classifications according to international standards, while the rest of the centers are still under development. Data centers were built and developed with the aim of improving the quality of communications in Iraq and wireless internet.
    The presence of these data centers enhances the already superior 4G/4G+ LTE technology of Asiacell in Iraq allowing Asiacell to enjoy a market share of more than 50% and enables it to raise the level of its services to subscribers. Asiacell's data centers helped provide coverage for more than 99% of Iraq's regions and access to the best internet network in Iraq.
    DCD, also known as the "Oscar of the Data Center Industry", has been publishing content and running events related to the data center industry since 1998.
    It also has more than 300,000 active professionals from all over the world.
    DCD had recognized the work of Asiacell, which was able to transform the infrastructure that was destroyed by years of wars and conflicts into an award-worthy structure, thus returning Iraq to the map of the technical race by launching a comprehensive system of technology solutions and data centers that are underway. Continuous development in order to raise it to international standards.
    Hisham Siblini, Executive Director of the Technology and Information Department at Asiacell said: "We are pleased and honored to be one of the finalists for this prestigious award from "DCD", that this is not only an achievement for Asiacell as it is an achievement for the whole of Iraq. Several years ago, it was just thinking Receiving such an award is a dream, and we had nothing or capabilities that we could compete with and nothing to offer, but today we enter international competitions with great pride and inspiration.”
    Siblini added, "We have promised you, as Asiacell, that we will restore to Iraq its leading position in the region, and the leading telecommunications company is approaching this goal day after day. We work day and night to provide what the Iraqi society deserves, and the Iraqi people always deserve the best."
    The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony to be held in London on December 8 this year.
    Competitors are selected by an independent jury from among hundreds of participating companies from 35 different countries across 6 continents.
