Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Hussein, discussed with the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), Jenin Plaschaert, today, Monday, coordination in the human rights file.
And the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein met today, Monday, 13/12/2021, with Jenin Plasschaert, representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) and Daniela Bell. Director of the UNAMI Human Rights Office.
The statement added, "The meeting reviewed a number of issues of common concern, the Iraqi government's efforts to support and promote human rights, and the importance of bilateral cooperation and coordination within this framework."
During the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of exchanging information, maintaining communication and meetings with the official concerned authorities and the UN office, and Iraq's keenness to respect human rights, follow up on this sensitive and important file, and strengthen the relationship with the UN and official Iraqi authorities.
For her part, Plasschaert expressed her thanks to the official bodies that show cooperation with the UNAMI office, stressing the importance of continuing coordination in a way that contributes to strengthening the human rights file in Iraq. Ended 29 / p. 87
