    [size=45]The leader of the Sovereignty Alliance, Mishaan al-Jubouri, said that Barham Salih will work to disrupt the Iraqi parliament's session next Monday, which is related to electing a president of the republic.[/size]
    [size=45]Al-Jubouri said in a tweet to him, "When Barham Salih, the candidate for a second term as President of the Republic, realized that the victory would be for his competitor, the candidate Hoshyar Zebari, he went to ask the Federal Court about the quorum necessary for the session to elect the President of the Republic."[/size]
    [size=45]He added, "If her answer is that it is two-thirds, he will work to disrupt the convening of the session so that he will remain in his position for as long as possible."[/size]
    [size=45]The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to elect a new president for the country by a two-thirds majority on February 8, from among 25 candidates who applied to fill the position.[/size]
    [size=45]The competition is limited to Saleh, who is the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Bafel Talabani, and Hoshyar Zebari, the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Massoud Barzani.[/size]
    [size=45]According to the political custom followed throughout the previous sessions, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan has held the position of President of the Republic since the overthrow of the previous regime in 2003.[/size]
    [size=45]But in terms of numbers, the fact that the Kurdistan Democratic Party won 31 parliamentary seats in the recent legislative elections, compared to only 17 seats for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, may reverse the equation this time.[/size]
