Today, Sunday, Representative of the New Generation Movement, Omid Ahmed, stressed the importance of tomorrow's session of the House of Representatives to nominate parliamentary committees, and while he ruled out naming their presidencies before forming the government, he indicated that there is a political consensus not to go for quotas in naming the new ministerial cabinet.
Ahmed said, "Tomorrow's session will be important because it inaugurates an important priority in the work of the Legislative and Trade Union Council of Representatives through the formation of parliamentary committees."
He added that "the formation of committees can take place before the formation of the new government, but we rule out naming their presidencies before naming the ministerial cabinet, given that the committee chairs are subject to electoral maturity and the formation of the government as well."
He continued, "The opposition parliamentary blocs represented by the Alliance for the People bloc, which includes the new generation, extension and independent representatives, is interested in being present in all committees to ensure the achievement of an effective role in monitoring the government. good for Iraq, and there was no successful supervisory role.”
Regarding the hosting of Finance Minister Ali Allawi in tomorrow’s session, Ahmed stressed that “the hosting is serious and we will listen to the Minister of Finance regarding the issue of the exchange rate and what justifications he will put forward to keep the current price. Whoever decided to reduce the price of the dinar against the dollar last year, before enacting the 2021 budget.”
With regard to the ongoing dialogues to form the government, he indicated that "there is a political consensus that it is necessary not to go to the logic of quotas in naming the cabinet."
