Gold is falling with the strength of the dollar

Gold fell from a key level of $2000, on Tuesday, as a strong US dollar increased pressure on the safe-haven metal.
Spot gold was down 0.5% at $1,988.78 an ounce by 04:47 GMT, after hitting a one-and-a-half-year high on Monday. And US gold futures fell 0.2 percent to $ 1992.40.
The dollar index settled near a 21-month high reached on Monday, making gold less attractive to holders of other currencies, after news of a possible US ban on oil imports to Russia.
Palladium rose 0.7 percent to $3,019.22 an ounce, but retreated from an all-time high of $3,440.76 on Monday.
Among other metals, spot silver fell 0.7% to $25.47 an ounce, while platinum rose 0.7% to $1,130.78.
