Today, Friday, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq leader Qais Khazali welcomed the "recent political developments", after ending the dispute between Muqtada al-Sadr and Nuri al-Maliki, while sending a message to the Kurdish and Shiite forces.
Khazali said in a tweet followed by Noon News Agency, "Experience has proven that the selection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives was quick, because the Sunni political forces have come to terms with each other, and we believe that this is a reason for the Kurdish political forces to exert their efforts in dialogue and understanding to agree on the candidate for the President of the Republic, as well as the strong Shiite politicians to agree on a candidate for the prime minister (in line with the existing political custom), so that the government cabinet can be completed as soon as possible.”
He added, "The formation of the government is a means and not a goal, but rather the goal is to serve the citizen whose economic situation is getting worse, which necessitates all of us to transcend many observations or considerations that will be considered secondary to the interest and service of all our people, so we very much welcome the recent political developments on them." Informed sources talked about the details of the political developments that took place yesterday evening, Thursday, which witnessed the breaking of the political isolation between the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, who constitutes one of the poles of the coordination framework.
The sources said that al-Sadr dropped the "veto" placed on Nuri al-Maliki after a phone call that took place between them, and that the two sides - the framework and the current - are moving towards an agreement that leads to the formation of the government with the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Sovereignty Alliance.
She indicated that the first of this agreement will be launched on Saturday, with a meeting that brings together representatives of the framework and the movement, provided that Al-Sadr will meet with the leaders of the framework in Baghdad next Monday with an initial date, and then set a date for a meeting that also includes the Kurdistan Democratic Party and sovereignty, which paves the way for the formation of the new government with the participation of all The winning political forces without exclusion.
The sources explained that the initial lines may lead to the selection of a compromise president, in addition to passing a consensual prime minister, on which the four poles agree.
On Thursday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, discussed issues related to the "Iraqi situation" with political figures.
Al-Sadr's office said in a statement, "Al-Sadr made phone calls to Masoud Barzani, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, and President of the Sovereignty Alliance Khamis al-Khanjar."
The statement added that "they discussed some important issues related to the current Iraqi situation."
For his part, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi said, today, Friday, that his government “performed the duty for which it was called,” in reference to reducing his chances of renewing a new government, after special leaks about the arrival of the Sadrist movement and the framework for preliminary understandings regarding the next government.
Leaks indicate that the short list of candidates to head the new government is devoid of Mustafa Al-Kazemi, who was appointed after bloody protests that toppled the government of Adel Abdul-Mahdi.
Al-Kazemi said in a tweet, which was followed by the Noon news agency, "We have performed the duty for which we were called in the service of the great people of Iraq."
He added, "We did not hesitate, falter, or compromise at the expense of the national interest, and we did not put our interests ahead of the interests of our people, and we were not drawn into arguments and auctions."
He continued, "We have brought the homeland to free and fair elections and patiently laid the foundations for overcoming major economic, security and social crises despite internal obstacles and external challenges, and we have returned dear Iraq to the regional and international communities, and opened the way to combat corruption and spoilers and restore the state from the clutches of non-states. military, security and intelligence.
Al-Kazemi pointed out, "The national forces, parties, and personalities that emerged from the democratic electoral process bear the responsibility today to protect the national track by ending political blockages and forming a government that addresses the entitlements, preserves the homeland and defends its unity and capabilities, and we bless all efforts on this path."
Al-Sadr, who issued the election results, raised the slogan of forming a national majority government, unlike the rest of the coordination framework forces, which demand a consensual government in which all political forces in Parliament participate, as in previous sessions.
This prompted al-Sadr to form a tripartite alliance with the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the "Sovereignty" alliance, which includes most of the winning Sunni forces in the legislative elections that took place in October of 2021.
