, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Naim Al-Aboudi announced, on Thursday, the initiation of a study to amend the admission system for graduate studies.
In his speech during the graduation ceremony of the sixty-fifth session at the University of Baghdad for the academic year 2022/2021, Al-Aboudi explained that "the insistence of the Ministry of Education on the real and realistic embodiment of the goals of university education and reaching the maximum extent of application in all vital and strategic areas of the Iraqi state, reviewing curricula and developing scientific indicators Successful linking the outputs to the labor market and the community’s need, providing an adequate environment of flexibility and renewal to keep pace with scientific developments, integrating the objectives of the educational institution, and working to develop and establish professional universities that meet the need for renewable disciplines and respond to the increasing societal demand for higher education.
He pointed out that "the initiation of a scientific study to modify the admission system for graduate studies and reduce the effects of quantitative indicators in the environment of higher education and to make maximum use of the results of applied research of scientific, economic and social feasibility and to find a kind of parity between the university's resources and requirements for research and scientific publication and to conduct positive partnerships between Iraqi universities and its global counterparts in terms of training and exchange of experiences.
He called for "joining efforts and organizing priorities in the graduates' file and not allowing these generations to become part of the areas for postponement," pointing out that "the treatment requires a well-studied approach that calculates time accurately and reaches a satisfactory level of development."
In turn, the President of the University of Baghdad, Munir Al-Saadi, said that "the challenges did not prevent this prestigious institution from achieving important competitive ranks in international classifications and containers," noting at the same time that "the university graduated in this session more than eleven thousand at the level of morning and evening preliminary studies.
