The Parliamentary Education Committee is coordinating with the Ministry of Education to include remote and rural areas in the school feeding project for the academic year 2022-2023, noting that the project is supported by the World Food Organization and its implementation depends on the availability of financial allocation.
The head of the committee, Zaytoun Al-Dulaimi, said, "Coordination took place with the Ministry of Education to include remote, rural and poor areas, according to the 2023 budget, in the school feeding project," according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.
And she continued, "The project is a real incentive to reduce students' dropout from schools and encourage them to continue their studies, in addition to achieving the health aspect for students, especially since the food basket will include natural materials and proteins that enhance mental and intellectual activity and increase students' understanding of the information they receive from teachers, as well as Supporting the immune system of the pupil.
She pointed out that "the price of one basket does not exceed 70 cents, including cheese, buns and fortified biscuits, in addition to some types of fruits such as bananas and apples, as well as mineral water," noting that "its launch date is linked to the provision of financial allocations."
The head of the Parliamentary Education Committee indicated that "the World Nutrition Organization supports the project in cooperation with the ministries of agriculture, education, health, trade and planning, to provide and examine the food basket."
