    Alsumaria News - Economy

Economists spoke today, Tuesday, about the Trade Bank of Iraq "TBI" loans and their benefits, while specialists called on the Anti-Corruption Committee to open an "urgent" investigation in this regard.

The economist, Diaa Al-Mohsen, criticized the policy of the Trade Bank of Iraq, the TBI, regarding granting loans and methods of charging interest, while revealing a loan that was granted in a "strange" way, and it was likely that there were foreign hands controlling the bank for special purposes.

Al-Mohsen said, in an interview with Alsumaria News, that "there is a problem in dealing between the Trade Bank of Iraq, the TBI, and the public," noting that "what we hear about the bank's policy is disastrous."

He added, "The bank granted a loan to a customer for a huge amount in exchange for obtaining the customer's phone number only, and thus this indicates the existence of 'nanny' transactions carried out by the TBI."

And he continued: "It is assumed that such a bank is when it grants loans, especially when they are in huge amounts. There must be an economic feasibility study, which includes the period of recovering the amount on which the project will be built, but this matter is not present with the bank.”

Regarding the benefits determined by the bank, the economist explained, "The benefits are good, but they exempt some (risk from risk), that is, in a way that favors some personalities that may be influential in the state, such as being a member of Parliament, a minister, or a general manager.”

And Al-Mohsen said, “The TBI Bank, according to what is rumored about it, is that there are foreign hands that run it in secret, and behind the scenes there are those who control the bank for special purposes,” pointing out that "The strange thing is that the Trade Bank of Iraq is the only bank that includes employees on contracts and from contracts that can be terminated at any moment," considering "this behavior is suspicious."

In addition, the economic expert, Aladdin Al-Qasir, confirmed that the policy of the Trade Bank of Iraq, the TBI, regarding granting loans, and methods of imposing interest, includes many problems.

Al-Qusayr said in an interview with Al-Sumaria News, “There is a problem in dealing between the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) and the public, especially since it is the only bank authorized to open external credits, especially in industrial projects. . The delay in the bank's procedures that take a long time may lead to an apology from foreign banks on implementing projects.

He added, "There are strategic projects of interest to the country, especially agricultural projects. The bank is delaying the completion of loans despite the availability of all guarantees," noting that there is "bureaucracy" in the bank's dealings with some clients, which It is almost very complex, which leads to delays in completing missions or loss of the customer or Borrower for a lot of time and effort.

Al-Qaseer pointed out that "there is great discrimination and favoritism by the bank in dealing with customers as long as it is the only bank that is characterized by these powers," explaining that "discrimination between customers depends on the entity represented by the customer , who may have relations with state officials or with officials within the bank.” ".

In the same context, economists called on the Anti-Corruption Committee to open an "extensive" investigation into the TBI loans and their benefits.
