The Department of Political Parties and Organizations in the Electoral Commission confirmed, on Wednesday, the legality and legitimacy of the decisions of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
According to a letter issued by the department and sent to the representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Baghdad, there is no longer a co-presidency system in the Patriotic Union, given the fundamentality of amending the internal curriculum of the party, and informing the Political Parties and Organizations Department of the High Electoral Commission of that officially.
The department indicated that the talk about the joint presidency dates back to the year 2021 when the internal curriculum was not yet amended, however, the amendment of the National Union curriculum was ratified according to book No. 2226 on 12/13/2022, and accordingly the co-presidency system is over.
