Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fouad Hussein, stated on Wednesday that the railway linking project between his country and Iran has entered the implementation phase, while he renewed the country's position in taking measures to protect borders with neighboring countries.
Hussein said in a joint press conference held by his Iranian counterpart, Amir Abdullahian, who is currently visiting Baghdad, that "Baghdad has become a center for regional and international diplomatic activity. We have received many foreign ministers."

On the axes of the meeting, Hussein said, "We touched on issues of concern to the two countries, including the security situation at the borders," adding that the Iraqi government has taken a set of measures to protect the borders between Iraq and Iran, and there are understandings in order not to allow some groups that want to cross the border to the other side. the other."
He added, "We are committed to the Iraqi constitution, which clearly indicates that Iraqi lands cannot be used to attack neighboring countries," stressing that "our commitment to border security is related to the Iraqi constitution first and is also related to the principles of good neighborliness."
And the Iraqi foreign minister said security issues have become an important part of the talks between the two parties.
Hussein said that during his meeting with his Iranian counterpart, he touched on the dues in Iraq related to the purchase of gas and electricity from Iran, noting that this issue was part of the discussions during his recent visit to America.
He said we had discussions in Washington regarding the sanctions imposed on Iran and the issue of dues.
In another aspect of the meeting, the Iraqi Foreign Minister said, "We touched on linking the railway from Shalamcheh to Basra Governorate, noting that there are practical practical steps in this field, in addition to the project to link Kermanshah through Al-Munthariya with Baghdad, where these projects were discussed.
He went on to say that regional and international issues were discussed, and we touched on part of the results of our visit to Washington related to the Iranian side, noting that it is important for Iraq that the two parties reach understandings, and we hope that they will return to their talks in Vienna.
