    Baghdad/Obelisk: In an effort to counter international money laundering across Iraq, the United States began imposing stricter auditing and processing measures on dollar auctions, and required the Central Bank of Iraq to use an electronic system for money transfers.
    With electronic censorship intensifying, about 80 percent of daily bank transfers in Iraq are now rejected due to insufficient information or suspicious activity. The result has been greatly diminished dollars available across the country – a reality that has not only fueled inflation and unrest, but also increased black market trading and the smuggling of dollars across Iraqi borders.
    And reports emerged stating that dollar smuggling operations in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq have increased significantly, reaching at least $70 million per day, while most of the money is transferred to Turkey and Dubai, and although the United States intended specifically to prevent the arrival of American dollars to Iran, it also increased. The smuggling of dollars across the southern borders of Iraq, and the US Treasury Department collected evidence indicating that dollars are smuggled directly from Iraq to Iran.
    According to an analysis written by Farzand Sherko, a researcher in intelligence and security affairs related to Iraq and the Middle East in general. at the Institute for World Policy. The Iraqi prime minister takes a different view of the coordination framework, and sees US pressure on the banking system as an opportunity rather than a threat. In his last speech, Muhammad Shayaa Al-Sudani welcomed the efforts made to purify the Iraqi banking system, saying: In my estimation, it is the gateway to economic, financial and banking reform in Iraq. This is the strategic opening in which the United States can invest politically.
    The analysis argues that if Iraq sided more with Russia, it would become part of a growing strategic partnership between Russia and Iran—a partnership that solidified in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Interestingly, adding Iraq to the mix may also be one of the tactics that Russia and Iran are adopting in order to win China over to their side, given that China has multiple economic interests in Iraq and knowing that Beijing is adept at exploiting economic gaps for political gain.
