Baghdad Today - Follow-up
Freedom House released its annual report (Freedom of the World) for the Global Freedom Index 2023, which assesses the degree of political freedoms and civil liberties in 210 countries, from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. .
In the Arab world, and according to the report of the organization, which I followed (Baghdad Today), Syria occupied the first place in the index that recognizes the lack of freedom, bringing the total points it scored according to the index to 1 in the infographic, while Iraq scored 29 points.
Freedom in the World is based on the premise that these standards apply to all nations and territories, regardless of geographic location, ethnicity, religious composition, or level of economic development .
Freedom in the World assesses the actual rights and freedoms enjoyed by individuals, not the performance of governments or governments themselves. Political rights and civil liberties can be affected by both state and non-state actors, including insurgents and other armed groups .
