    [size=45]Yesterday, Wednesday, the head of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, confirmed the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the UAE during the current month to follow up the smuggled funds and the accused, stressing the continuation of the investigation in the case of tax secretariats known in the media as the theft of the century.[/size]
    [size=45]Hanoun said in a press conference to announce the annual report of the activities and achievements of the Integrity Commission for the year 2022, followed by (Al-Mada), that “the annual report includes the achievements of the Integrity Commission for the year 2022 in combating corruption and prosecuting illicit gain,” pledging “to the Iraqi people to redouble efforts so that the achievements of 2023 are different and great.” .[/size]
    [size=45]Hanoun added, "The most important achievements at the level of the commission's presidency for the year 2022 are the initiation of reforms in the commission's departments, directorates, and provincial offices by addressing failures with continuous field visits."[/size]
    [size=45]He pointed out, "The Supreme Commission for Combating Corruption has made good achievements, with a total of 63 cases, 7 of which have been referred to the judicial courts, and the rest are being worked on, as a field investigative team has been formed working with the media side, and its duty is to move to the judiciary in the event that corruption files are presented."[/size]
    [size=45]Hanoun pointed out, “The preparation of the second draft amendment to the Integrity and Illicit Gain Commission Law, which is currently in the State Council.”[/size]
    [size=45]He stressed, "the tendency to reach understandings with many countries to conclude agreements with them, including a memorandum of understanding with France."[/size]
    [size=45]Hanoun spoke about "concluding a memorandum of understanding with the Emirates to follow up the smuggled money and return the accused during the current month."[/size]
    [size=45]And he stressed the importance of "coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to follow up the smuggled funds and recover those accused of aiding countries through memorandums."[/size]
    [size=45]Hanoun continues, "The achievements included opening a checking account for the commission, the content of which is the money recovered from corruption, as well as the completion of the agreement of the law rescue agencies for combating corruption for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah last year, which gives room for integrity." And he went on to say that “combating corruption does not need theorizing, but rather love for Iraq, will, good tools, and work in the field,” noting “the role of the Iraqi ambassador to the UAE in returning the smuggled money.”[/size]
    [size=45]Regarding the theft of tax secretariats, Hanoun confirmed that “investigations into the theft of tax secretariats are ongoing,” pointing out that “the last suspect is Diaa al-Musawi,” and continued, “We are keen on the confidentiality of the investigations.”[/size]
    [size=45]The authority indicated, during its achievements report for the year 2022, that it had “received (2960) communications of allegations of corruption, of which (1606) were not ignored, with a rate of (54.26%), and (1354) were anonymous communications, with a completion rate of (100%).”[/size]
    [size=45]The report added, “The number of reports registered during the year 2022 amounted to (10,840) reports, of which (7,670) reports were completed, with an achievement rate of (70.76%).” He pointed out that “the total number of news reports is by adding the news rounded up from last year, which amounted to (5731) news, the Commission has worked on (16571) news, of which (12655) news has been completed, with a total completion rate of (76.37%).”[/size]
