Ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa said, in a press statement: “There are contracts signed with Siemens, in the presence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, for long-term maintenance that extends for five years with regard to Al-Sadr gas stations, Al-Rasheed gas stations and Kirkuk, in addition to agreements with GE.” Which included long-term maintenance, installation of combined cycle units, and installation of stations operating on associated gas after its exploitation.
Moussa added, “The agreements and projects with Siemens and GE companies are considered infrastructure and strategic solutions to support and rehabilitate the electricity file, as there were a number of projects that required accelerated, intermediate and late time ceilings,” stressing “the implementation of these projects and agreements after approving the state’s general budget.”
He explained, "The daily follow-up by the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, and his insistence on developing the electricity file, led to qualitative achievements, and worked to address the most important obstacles, namely fuel, as he instructed the Ministry of Oil to guarantee a fuel plan, and it was included in the fifth licensing rounds."
Musa continued, saying: “The licensing rounds were concerned with referring oil projects, but after the Prime Minister’s decision, the work of licensing rounds expanded to rehabilitate gas fields.”
And he stated, “The Council of Ministers authorized the Ministry of Electricity to sign with consulting companies to rehabilitate and proceed with smart networks,” noting that “the ministry finished preparing an integrated study, in which it sponsored international models and modern technologies, and submitted it to the Council of Ministers and we await its discussion and acceptance, and then its approval to proceed with transformation projects.” electronic collection, which will be a reason for rehabilitating distribution networks, reducing losses and maximizing collection resources.
