The Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament hosts a delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government to discuss the share of the Kurdistan Region in the federal budget.

A member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Khalil Ghazi, stated, on Tuesday (May 2, 2023), that the Parliamentary Finance will host a delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government to discuss the issue of the Kurdistan Region’s share of the federal general budget, “but the date for hosting has not yet been determined.”
Yesterday, Monday (May 1, 2023), the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament hosted the ministers of electricity and agriculture in the federal government to discuss the shares of the two ministries in the draft federal budget law.
Yesterday also witnessed a meeting of the State Administration Coalition held at the home of Khamis al-Khanjar with the participation of the leaders of the coalition, and the coalition announced that the day (May 10, 2023) will be the deadline for resolving the discussion of the articles of the draft Iraqi federal general budget law.
On (April 16, 2023), the Iraqi Council of Representatives conducted the second reading of the draft federal budget law, the step that precedes voting on the draft law for approval by the Council.
The current draft federal budget law covers three years, and the proposed budget in the draft law exceeds 199 trillion Iraqi dinars.
And when he was hosted on the program (With Ring) on (April 30, 2023), the Minister of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Awat Janab, said about the share of the Kurdistan Region in the draft federal general budget law: “The share of the Kurdistan Region in the draft law exceeds 18 trillion dinars and may reach 20 trillion dinars, but this amount deducts production expenses and expenses for transporting and extracting oil, which amount to about three trillion, in addition to more than a billion oil transportation costs, so this number will not remain the same.
The Minister of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Region added: “What will remain will be about 16 trillion dinars, and the agreement concluded between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government includes positive points in favor of the Kurds, including the confirmation of staffing, although we are not yet satisfied with the issue of the Peshmerga, but a step forward has been taken.” While this was one of the major obstacles between us and the Iraqi government in the past.
