The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs - Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, announced today, Thursday, that the ministry's contract with the French company Total will contribute to the establishment of the largest electricity production station with a capacity of 1000 megawatts, and will supply the national system with additional energy that contributes to better stability of supply hours throughout Iraq, especially Basra province.

Al-Sawad pointed out that "the contract with the international company Total will include the establishment of a seawater treatment plant with a capacity of 5 million barrels per day, and this will be considered one of the most important achievements because the ministry wants to reduce dependence on water that the citizen needs, and such a project will be of great benefit after its completion."
Al-Sawad continued, "The rapid activation of the contract with the French company and its partners will enhance the rapid start of project implementation according to the timings that everyone agreed upon," noting that "the big goals of this contract will be clear in terms of benefit when the projects are completed, especially by ending gas flaring because the government and the directives of the President The ministers, in addition to the ministry's direction, are moving towards an optimal investment of gas to end its burning, preserve the environment, and contribute to climate improvement, as well as proceeding to make local gas the operator of all power stations in Iraq.
