The President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Baghdad Palace, the President of the Iraqi Federation of Trade Unions, Walid Nimah Fares, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic stressed the need to continue efforts to establish security and stability in the country, as it represents a basic pillar for meeting citizens’ demands, providing services, starting investment projects, providing services, and rehabilitating the infrastructure.
He pointed out that Iraq enjoys economic, geographical, cultural and civilizational factors, which are distinct outcomes for the success of productive and investment projects, and a starting point for the importance of unifying the efforts of unions and professional unions and their independence, and benefiting from these factors in sharpening energies, increasing the pace of production, and supporting the government in its endeavor to provide a free and dignified life for citizens.
The President of the Republic spoke about the importance of encouraging and supporting the private sector and expanding its participation to develop the economy and achieve sustainable development in the country, noting the need to improve the conditions of workers, protect their rights, and make efforts to issue legislation that guarantees suitable working conditions for them.
For their part, the members of the delegation reviewed the activities of the Union and its affiliated unions and the most important indicators facing their work, expressing their thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic, and their appreciation for his proposals and his keenness to care for the working class.
